Frances Scott is a photographic artist from Orkney, based in Glasgow. Her work examines themes of memory, mapping, and belonging, often centred around journeys made through landscapes of personal significance, and since 2016 she has been working on a long–term project to walk and document the coastlines of Orkney. This photograph, from her series Undertow, was made while walking 4.11 miles of the Papay coastline. The concrete sea wall depicted protects two neolithic houses—the oldest standing settlement in Western Europe—against the advancements of the sea.
