Heather Shields is a weaver and textile designer based on the west coast of Scotland, specialising in contemporary textiles characterised by clean linear forms, an intuitive approach to colour and a strong graphic edge. ‘Ribb’ was woven during experiments on the loom exploring padded and corded woven constructions. Each shape has been stuffed by hand with a blend of wool fleece adding an increased tactility and weight to the cloth. The linear, repetitive patterns are inspired by photographs capturing reflections and shadows cast by the sun.
