Michael Skeen

  • Visual Artist

Michael Skeen is concerned with the boundaries between painting and photography, exploring this with line, form and composition in a variety of locations and mediums. His practice involves dismantling and manipulating the mechanics of chemical photography to question what the limits of photography can be. He produces artefacts that condense time, light and chemical reaction into work that sits between the art object and the photograph.

Cosmic Slip is a collection of chemical drawings made over the last few years. Formally these works echo Skeen’s broader painting practice, whilst bringing a medium-specific sense of depth and materiality.
