Caius Bearder

  • Jewellery Designer

My inspiration stems from my home island of Guernsey. The natural beauty of the island's coastlines inspires the flowing lines and forms within my work, combining soft aquatic surface lines and denser textures to reflect turbulent rockfaces and waves. Working predominantly in silver, I use a combination of engraving and repousse to achieve the details which provide dynamic light play to the surfaces of my pieces.

Brodie Birss

  • Artist

My work is founded on the concept that working with our hands and being in nature is fundamental to mental and physical wellbeing and the mindful practice of creating is stillness that immerses your attention.

My pieces are unique and are informed by my experiences in nature and the making process, pushing the material properties of the different mediums to accentuate the technique of note or reflect my experiences found in nature, whether tactile, visual or auditory.

The colour flow and play in this sculpture is reminiscent of a myriad of petals and the placement of the frit on the surface calls to mind the shapes of a flower.

Mark Anthony Burgoyne

  • Designer

I am a multi-disciplinary communication designer, specialising in graphic design, photography and sound design. My current focus is to establish the relationship between my graphic design and photographic practise(s), sometimes distinct, often not - to develop an understanding of the thresholds and commonalities thereof. My work is developed through practice-led research driven by an intricate concept based methodology. In my personal work, I am interested in the exploration of memory, and through observation of both natural and built environments, the interrogation of meaning. My practise embraces the tactility of analogue processes, synthesised with the immediacy of digital - forming a workflow that allows my varied outputs to form a cohesive body of work.

Velvet is an artist with a multidisciplinary practice that explores inclusivity, queerness and nature, raising conversations on the queer body in connection to nature and heteropatriarchal structures. They work with tactile materials such as ceramics and textiles connecting these physical objects to performances and video works. Dandelions are a repetitive motif in Velvet's work, their transformative quality and the idea of them as an intruder to be uprooted and discarded is significant in relating to the experiences of marginalised communities.
