Ruth Kirkby is a visual artist, designer and letterpress printer based in Glasgow. She is interested in the history of printing with metal and wood type, whilst experimenting with new ways to use the process. This series of prints is a collection of work made with materials, tools and scraps collected and generated from working as a technician in the Caseroom. Layers have been built up using a range of techniques and experiments including using the discarded Risograph masters as screens, utilising any excess ink during cleaning, creating layers from any residue, making use of whatever is lying around the workshop.
